The Question: I currently have 3 x 3tb HDD in a raidz1 configuration and with 3 more drives coming this week I want to upgrade to 6 x 3tb raidz2. I would like to retain my plugins/jails, data, shares, etc... with all the same permissions. I really would rather not rebuild everything from scratch. What is the best method for doing this? Is it possible via the cloud?
Solutions:
I have researched this and came up with these methods so far:
Background: As mentioned above I have put a lot of work into my FreeNAS to get to get it to its current state and working the way I want it to. I have had it for over a year and currently on the stable release train.
Solutions:
I have researched this and came up with these methods so far:
- Manual backup of the data + rebuild the plugins/ jails manually then transfer data back. (I want to avoid this as I have spent many hours/days/weeks building it to its current state)
- Use the replication feature to replicate to another FreeNAS server... (I don't have another server)
- Question: Is there another option to do this via the cloud? I don't care if it will take a week to migrate. (60Mb download 5Mb upload). I do not have an external drive large enough especially after buying 3 more 3tb drives. I was thinking with Amazon cloud... unlimited space... (I think they have file size restrictions so nvm)
