This high-density TrueNAS M40-HA comes with a 4U 60-bay expansion shelf to deliver 1.5 PB of storage in just 8U of space. The bulk of the storage capacity is provided by 82 x 18 TB HDDs and 2 x 1.9 TB Performance SSDs can be configured for cache or fusion storage depending on your needs. Built in compression features can increase the effective capacity of the system by up to 5X, making this system especially well suited for large capacity file sharing, video production, backups, or disaster recovery systems.

Probably the most significant feature TrueNAS 12.0 brings to the table are fusion pools. In previous versions, pools needed to be created out of the same media type. Starting with version 12.0, you can create a new fusion pool—a mix of both flash and spinning disks. Now it’s possible to use spinning disks for data blocks and flash devices for metadata and small files. Fusion pools are an excellent addition that can speed up file-based operations and metadata intensive functions like deduplication. Perform faster metadata requests and get the most from your system by using fusion pools.

Achieve high IOPS and excellent performance with the advanced caching technology of ZFS. The system’s primary cache resides in 128 GB of RAM so your most important data is available at DDR4 speeds. Each controller is equipped with an NVDIMM write cache to hold the ZFS Intent Log (ZIL) and keep the last 5 seconds of synchronous write operations safe without slowing applications down. Furthermore, this TrueNAS M40-HA system also comes with 2 x 1.9 TB SSDs that can be used for the L2ARC to enhance performance by keeping your most frequently-used files in cache.

With full 40 gigabit Ethernet networking, the TrueNAS M40-HA cuts large file transfer times by an order of magnitude. Equipped with dual 40 GbE per controller, the TrueNAS M40-HA is capable of over 4 GB/s throughput and 500,000 IOPS. TrueNAS makes it easy to connect to a wide variety of network infrastructures and support many applications.

This system comes configured with dual controllers to ensure hardware failure does not result in a system outage. Dual nodes provide top-to-bottom redundancy of all active components and are kept in sync via a continuous heartbeat to minimize failover time. If a failover does occur, all network services are automatically started on the second controller and users will continue to have access to their data as they did before the failure. When your business can’t afford to go offline, a high availability TrueNAS system should be your number one choice.
