Zpool Status Drive Identifier?

In 9.10.2-U1, across several servers, I've noted zpool status sometimes shows drive ID & sometimes shows GPTID, as in the example below. Any idea why it differs/changes?

I have not found an answer. I've researched with respect to FreeNAS, FreeBSD, & zfs in general & have found nothing to indicate why zfs shows one or the other much less changes it over time, which I've seen on my systems. As best I can understand, with glabel I can cross reference & I'm keeping a file with the ZFS status & glabel output as well as the requisite section of dmesg. When a boot USB flash drive fails, I think this will allow me to identify the failed actual drive.
