New to FreeNas, currently setting up a RAID 5/RaidZ1 Pool with my 4 x 3TB WD HDDs.

I have created the ZFS Pool through the GUI, when creating it said there should be 8.65TB available, after pool creation the available space is 7.7TB, is this correct? If so what takes up almost a TB?

Have I done anything incorrectly? Any help would be appreciated...

Also keep in mind that you have 2GB of data per drive being used by the SWAP file space, subtract that from what the calculator tells you.

RAID5
*Raw Storage: 12.0 TB / 12000.0 GB
*Usable Storage: 8.2 TB / 8381.9 GB
RAID5 uses one disk for Parity and requires at least three drives to be used.

Still does not explain where 500GB has gone?

2G is the default value for each drives Swap file size as defined in the GUI.
