Here system info:

Hostname freenas.local
Build FreeNAS-8.3.0-RELEASE-p1-x64 (r12825)
Platform Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU 750 @ 2.67GHz
Memory 12264MB
System Time Thu Jan 03 08:32:17 PST 2013
Uptime 8:32AM up 13 days, 1:17, 0 users
Load Average 0.06, 0.03, 0.00
Connected through freenas

When I run Windows Image Backup from my Windows 7 Pro to \\FreeNAS\DATA , it ran for awhile and it created some folders/files created on the FreeNAS\DATA. But it failed after a little bit later (see attached pictured)

Any ideas ???

While I cannot read the Win7 error code in the jpg, from http://social.technet.microsoft.com...l/thread/aa7bb210-516b-4b82-85ce-ca54983e5bdf, try the following:
1. Click Start. Enter “gpedit.msc” in the Start Search box.
2. Locate to Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options\
3. In the right pane, double-click on “Network security: LAN Manager authentication level”.
4. Change the level to “Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated”.
OR
Map the network resource to a local drive letter.
OR
Backup to a local drive & copy to the network with a separate scheduled task.

Hope this helps.

Thank for your help. However, it did not work for me.

Here is the error image again. I believe the error occurs at the end of the process.

Note: I backup to other NAS or shared folder on network and it worked fine.

Thanks.

Only 2 other suggestions to try.
1. Make sure destination has >2x size of backup free before starting job.
2. Tweak CIFS settings (mainly disable AIO & enable large R/W support). Or look for difference from the successful NAS

Hi Jlpellet,

I've tried your suggestion and it is still not working for me.

1.) My destination (FreeNAS box) is very big (about 9TB) so this is not a problem .

2.) I've tried to tweak the CIFS settings as your suggestion but no luck.

Note that I could not check the differences from other successful NAS since it's a QNAP box (different OS). And another successful one is a shared-folder on Windows-based system (different OS).

Any other ideas? Anyone has the same errors/issues ???

Thanks for your inputs.

Only other option I can think of is to make the backup to a local drive then see if copying the resulting directory replicates the error.
