Where is the caching setting ?

Hi

I have upgraded the RAM on my FreeNAS server from 1GB to 8GB. I have read that the prefetch caching setting is hence turned off and needs to be set on.

Where is this setting (can't find it in the GUI) ?

How do I take advantage of the additional RAM i.e. make FreeNAS use it ?

Hi SandmanZA,

Run "sysctl vfs.zfs.prefetch_disable" at the command line - should give a value of 0 to indicate that prefetch is enabled, and 1 for prefetch disabled.

Make sure you are running the 64bit build of FreeNAS. The 32bit\x86 version will not see more than 4GB or RAM.
