Hi There,

I installed as an exercise a Windows 2016 server and enabled the remote desktop service.

When I enter its IP adres in the Remote Desktop Connection app I need to enter my username and a password.
This login prompt closes immediately after hitting enter.
I noticed the webpage itself uses VNC but when I use a VNC app/viewer for my Windows 10 machine it can't connect.

How can I easily connect to my virtual machine from my windows machine without using the webpage from Truenas server.

Kind Regards,
Guy Forssman

Unless you installed VNC inside the VM (see the next point about bridges), you need to connect to the IP of the TrueNAS box on the port specified when you created the VM (can be seen under devices | VNC)

You could also allow Remote Desktop from within the VM too and use that... but you need to make sure you're doing your bridging properly for IP connections between the guest and host.

Reference (I know it's for SCALE), but the concept still applies:

@sretalla thanks for pointing out that I could find the port under vnc.

I had used the port that is visible in the browser when using the webpage for truenas.
Which isn't the correct one

So really thank you
