VirtualBox fill screen resolution

Hi All,
I am running Win8.1 in a virtualbox, but am having issues trying it running full screen on a separate monitor.

I have installed the vbox guest additions (which fixed the mouse issue). When I change windows screen resolution, the aspect ratio is all bad .. higher than wide .. I am running at 1400x1050 but would like 1600x900 but miss the bottom bar .. cause windows only has 1600x1200

Can anyone help please ..

I am also having a resolution problem with VMWare 12 Workstation, with FreeNAS 9.10-Stable in a Linux client running on a CentOS 7 Host. I have successfully installed the guest additions of VirtualBox and in WMWare for other clients like Linux and Windows 10, but not with the FreeNAS ISO installaion. A reason could be that there are no kernel source and other files needed to build the client in the FreeNAS 9.10-Stable ISO.
I will also like to hear how VMWare and VirtualBox can get higher resolution in a virtual machine for FreeNAS.
