Virtual Linux Machine & SMB shares

Hey everyone, just jumped into the world of playing with virtual machines on Freenas and have set up a test machine of Xubuntu as i plan on setting up a Minetest server, everything has gone well so far other than i am now stumped on how to see the Freenas SMB shares when i browse the network on the virtual machine?

I'm sure i have missed out a setting, somewhere in the documentation on how to see the SMB shares or something.

I can visit the web browser and see the Freenas GUI and even log in and control and so on but SMB shares in the network on the virtual machine don't show so i'm stumped.
