Hello,

I have a Via U3500 CPU with Via Padlock acceleration.
it is compatible by default with FreeNAS and Geli?

I think so. From geli(8):

Utilizes the crypto(9) framework, so when there is crypto hardware available, geli will make use of it automatically.

And from crypto(9):

crypto is a framework for drivers of cryptographic hardware to register with the kernel so “consumers” (other kernel subsystems, and users
through the /dev/crypto device) are able to make use of it.

It should work in FreeBSD, but I don't think it will work in FreeNAS as the padlock kernel module (www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?manpath=freebsd-release-ports&query=padlock) doesn't seem to be included in FreeNAS 9.1.1. You may want to create a feature request here: https://bugs.freenas.org/projects/freenas/issues, to get the module included in one of the next releases.
