User Access to generic dataset

I have a dataset "media" with owner and group set at the builtin group/user "apps" for use by several truechart applications. I also want to give a local user read/write access to this dataset and dirs to transfer files to it. I created a local user and a smb share, but cannot figure out how make this access happen. ACL-settings in Truenas are a mystery to me and I'm a total newby to Truenas, coming from Synology (which is far more easy to setup).

So how do I go about this?

Add the created user to the apps group, you may also need to add the write permission to the Group section if you want write access. Linux/Unix permissions can be a pain.

Adding the local user to the apps group helps, I can get into the dataset and directories now. Wrting to it does not work, but the write permission in the apps groups is enabled. Or should I enable this in another group?
