Another way is to replace the old drives with the new ones and then add the old drives back as a new vdev ;)

Yeah, that was one of my initial thought on how to get this project done. Not really sure what swayed me; maybe it was the one-at-a-time thing that seemed off-putting. I will eventually have to go thought that process when I replace my set of four smaller disks with something bigger... But hey, I will cross that bridge when I get to it, right? :)
