So, I saw that 9.3 was out and got all excited for the update. I tried performing the web GUI upgrade but seemed to hang. I let it sit for a solid 20 minutes and then decided to plug in my monitor and keyboard to see what was going on. The screen was blank, so I went ahead and rebooted the machine (probably a huge mistake).

When the machine restarted I see the following:

Loading /boot/defaults/loader.conf
Unable to load a kernel!
-
can't load 'kernel'

Then drops me at some sort of command line.

So it seems like my upgrade was an utter disaster. When I try to boot into the previous install (F2 boot option) I get the same error.

Is there anything I can do? Thanks in advance!

You are probably going to need to image your USB with 9.3 and reload your configuration file that you backed up prior to the upgrade. If 9.3 doesn't work out for you, you can always go back to a 9.2.x.x release. Some people have reported the upgrade taking up to 30min and I suspect you didn't wait long enough. Which has left you in an inconsistent state.
