updating procedure from TrueNAS Core 12 to 13

Hi All,
hoping to find You All Well.
I'm about to venture into upgrading my system from TrueNAS Core 12 to the new version 13...
A few questions to make sure I don't mess up :
Is it possible to do a FRESH installation of TrueNAS 13 where to load the backup settings of the 12 ?
or do You recommend doing a system update ?
Am I sure I can read my old pool ( which is NOT encrypted anyway ) ?
Would You have any other advice besides doing, as I am doing, a not paranoid enough backup of my entire pool ?

Yes.

I don't see why not to.

Yes, it can. Encryption could pose a problem, but if you aren't using that, it should be fine.

I suggest just doing an update/upgrade. Your boot pool will save earlier boot environments in case you need to boot back into 12 for some reason. Just to be sure, you can also save your 12.x configuration locally before upgrading using WebGUI > System > General > Save Config.
