Hello,

I use FreeNAS on servers, replication, these exist between WAN.
Frequent snapshot: every 30min, Lifetime: 1 hour.
But .. last week, I lost all replicated files because WAN trouble
(over stopped 1 hour. I dont know my FreeNAS does not hold.)

As a result, my snapshots are storange status.

ServerA: (Push replication)
# zfs list -r -t snapshot -o name | less
NAME
ENAS/backup01@auto-20160805.0339-1h
ENAS/backup01@auto-20160805.0409-1h
ENAS/backup01@auto-20160805.0439-1h
(snip)
ENAS/backup01@auto-20160808.0615-1h
ENAS/backup01@auto-20160808.0645-1h

ServerB: (Pull , over WAN)
# zfs list -r -t snapshot -o name | less
NAME
ENAS/backup01/backup01@auto-20160805.0409-1h
ENAS/backup01/backup01@auto-20160805.0439-1h
ENAS/backup01/backup01@auto-20160805.0509-1h
(snip)
ENAS/backup01/backup01@auto-20160805.1539-1h
ENAS/backup01/backup01@auto-20160805.1609-1h

First, zfs send snapshots like:
root 63575 0.5 0.0 39812 1872 ?? S Fri04AM 8:04.58 zfs: sending ENAS/backup01@auto-20160805.0409-1h (38%: 1174996025000/3021490103448) (zfs)

but later, zfs does not work anything It done.

Any ideas?
like manually: 'zfs send ENAS/backup01@auto-20160805.1439-1h.....'

build: FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-201602031011

best,

I believe that you need to have a common snapshot on the two systems, so for a start, I would increase the expiration (hopefully you have the space). Then, you can either choose the intialize the remote option and fully replicate, or you can cross your fingers and hope that doing a manual cli based snapshot and replication would work (this would not be my first choice, but I understand that bandwidth between the 2 sites might make the first option unusable.

Thank you for your advice. Finally, I chose initialize .. delete all snapshot, remove any unimportant/older local files, extend Lifetime, and snap, send latest snapshot. I use my FreeNAS for backup storage, I don't need too old files.

Can I hold latest snapshot on remote FreeNAS? I want to restore from remote FreeNAS backup files, if crashed local site(and local FreeNAS). I consider to use only rsync, but I feel rsync is slow a little..
