Hi... i have a 2TB storage on my freeNAS-9.2.1.5 and so far i have used 1TB for several ZFS dataset. The problem is after some time, now i m not able to create new dataset. The error said that there is no space left, but i can see that i still have 1TB left.

I can shrink other dataset however, but increasing is not possible with the same error. Any helpful hint why i couldnt create new dataset? thx.

Ummm you can't expand or decrease datasets. What exactly are you trying to do?

i CAN decrease, but unable to increase.

I am trying to create a new dataset from my storage. Everytime i decrease a dataset, my storage will have more free space, but again i m unable to CREATE new dataset.

Nope it doesn't work like that. Please follow the forum rules and describe your hardware, error message and exactly what you are doing.

Sure you can, to the extent that the size of a dataset is defined at all--quotas and reservations can be changed at will.

@pralon, in addition to describing your hardware and FreeNAS version, what's the output of 'zfs list'?

You probably have reservations or refreservations taking up what you think is free space.

again what exactly do you mean by expanding a dataset? Are you talking about quotas, adding a vdev or expanding a pool? You should also know that your system doesn't meet the minimum system requirements. You need at least 8GB of memory to have a stable working system.
