unable to login as new users TrueNAS-SCALE-22.02-RC.1

Can create users ok, but when trying to login, get invalid
username or password. Have tried with the simplest of
user "foobar" password "foobar" change no settings...
invalid.

where are you trying to login? Webinterface or SMB? If it's the webinterface you can't use other users than root.

thanks c77dk. oh really? no. surely not. the web interface to maintain truenas.
are you seriously saying that only one user, root, can log into the
web interface to maintain/configure truenas? that breaches our (anyones) security requirements
of no shared accounts and tbh is pretty lame this day and age. what is the
reasoning behind that? I am amazed that is the case.

At this time the web interface don't have roles. If you connect to the interface you have the power to change everything.
If you create a new account, it's only a new root account or a name change.
