Trouble replacing drive.

I am running freenas 11. I have 5 drives in raid z2. One drive failed last night with a power outage and put the NAS into a degraded state. I did the usual steps: offline the drive; power off nas; take out bad drive; put in new drive; turn on nas. Here is where I run into the problem. I go to volume status and I can see the new drive in there. However it doesn't seem to be getting a drive letter. Instead of an ada number, there is a file path. (dev/gptid/faf...). When I go to "replace disk it says: replacing disk /dev/gptid/faff... . There are no options for me to choose in the member disk drop down. Replace Disk button is grayed out. I've tried doing a little research, but can't seem to get far with my current understanding of freenas and freebsd. Thanks in advance.

That is an insignificant version number because there is a massive change in the user interface between FreeNAS 11.1 and 11.2.

I think you may have removed the wrong disk. How did you select the disk to remove? If a disk has been removed, the space where it was should be filled with a string of numbers as you can see in this illustration:
