Thinking of adding external JBOD, will this work?

I currently have the following system:

SuperMicro X10SDV-4C-TLN2F
128GB DDR4 ECC RAM
M1015
CSE 846 chassis
BPN-SAS2-846EL1 backplane

I'm thinking of using my old Chenbro 3U 16 bay chassis as an external JBOD as follows.
Swap the M1015 for a 9207-4i4e.
Install a SuperMicro CSE-PTJBOD-CB2 Power Board in the Chenbro 3U
Use a SFF-8088 to SFF-8077 cable to connect the internal SAS2 expander in the Chenbro case to the external port on the 9207-4i4e.
Connect the internal port of the 9207-4i4e to the Supermicro SAS2 backplane using the SFF-8077 to SFF-8077 as it is currently connected to the M1015.

Would this work?

I realized the backplane in my chenbro does not have expander functionality, so I believe I would need something like a RES2SV240.

Would this work? SFF-8088 to SFF-8088 cable from 9207-4i4e in host system to SFF-8088 to SFF-8087 PCI adapter bracket. Then SFF-8087 to SFF-8087 from the adapter to the RES2SV240. Then SFF-8087 to SFF-8087 x4 from the RES2SV240 to the Chenbro backplane.

Yes, that whole chain of components will work fine, as long as you have a way to power the expander inside your Chenbro chassis (via Molex plug, I think?) and a safe place to mount it.
