Don't restrict yourself to Supermicro and have a look at this thread.
AM4 with IPMI: Gigabyte MC12-EC0, 55 E + shipping, with cooler.
Even cheaper, as it already includes the CPU and uses RDIMM, but with limited expandability: Gigabyte MJ11-EC1, should come out just under 100 E with a SFF-8654 4i to 4*SATA breakout cable from eBay (China) and a quiet 60 mm fan.

Alas, I need to be able to mount a GPU on it for transcoding. If that weren't the case... Also, I already have the 64GB(4X16) DDR4 RAM and the Ryzen 9 5900, plus the server does get loaded by multiple people and runs proxmox plus 2 VMs, one of them with 20+ docker containers.

These would run in the MC12-EC0. Onboard M.2 to boot, 6 SATA, IPMI. Can take 4*NVMe from the x16 slot and still have a x4 open slot from the CPU for a NIC or a transcoding GPU.

Of course it does, 99% of the white box market uses AMI. And I suspect the big 3 also use AMI, but customize it much more extensively.

Laptops have more variety, though.

If we keep hijacking the thread like that, do you think Disn*y might sue iX? Or perhaps AMI might sue Disn*y for infringement. (Disn*y stole AMI's methods. They did it before it was cool, taking a platform consumed by everyone and turning it to excrement)
