Hello,

I Was reading the guide on the System Dataset and I am curious on what the best practice should be for location? I have an OS disk which is a 60GB SSD and a 36TB Mirror Pool. Is it really that write intensive with typically only do NFS and iSCSI? If something should happen to the system dataset can it easily be recreated or would my entire array be impacted?

Ideally it would be on a redundant vdev, but as long as you have a config backup and don't care about log history/perf stats it doesn't really matter if it goes away.

Are you able to pop another 60gig SSD in and mirror them? If not, moving it to the other pool is probably a good plan. It's not very io intensive but it is a continuous stream of tiny writes for stats.

Thanks @JaimieV

I do backup system config often so that is good to know. I will keep it on the mirror pool for now until I get another mirror for either OS or others.
