Hello!

I want to build a NAS that will be used by 3 people who edit videos. They'll work on files directly on the NAS, from Mac and Windows.
I was thinking about this: https://www.ahead-it.eu/fr/shop/ser...-16-x-ddr-4-redundant-psu-5-x-pci-e-expansion
- 1 CPU
- 8 * 32 GB Ram
- basic mount (without multipath)
- motherboard that includes 2 intel 10 Gbe
- default jbod controllers
- 12 * 12 Tb drives
- 1 sata ssd dom 64 Gb (for OS)

Because SMB will be used for sharing, I though a slog was unnecessary, but I've read that since samba 4.7 by default it syncs: https://www.medo64.com/2019/09/samba-and-sync-writes/
So I'm not sure about that.
For l2arc I was thinking putting a 1TB nmve drive (they read the same big files over and over while editing).

Thank you and have a good day! :)

No, Samba does not sync by default. It honors sync requests made by the client, which seem to be a somewhat OS X-exclusive thing.

I guess no SLOG then ^^
Also while looking around, I found that some people had issues with dual sockets, so I'll go to a single socket board, other people have had great results apparently :)
