That's not looking like a disk problem. Check that your data and power cables are connected securely--maybe try replacing the data cable and/or using a different port for this one.

intersting.... ok.. this is in a Dell R510 so once the disks finish I'll swap bay positions. I also keyed in the Sysctl command by hand and I now have it installed into the Tunables...so perhaps a shutdown reseat and reboot..

I just noticed something

Its not doing a smart test.... its doing a Badblock run.... I wonder if its trying to do 2 things at one time and thats causing issues..

I'm an old school unix guy, but I'm rusty... so I guess I need to let these finish and then walk the steps one at a time.
