Need some help with an issue I am having with a FreeNAS 11.1 install.
I have just upgraded from FreeNAS 9.2 to 11.1 in a hope it would resolve some performance issues.
The network performance of this FreeNAS is between 5-10mb a sec (network is gigabit across all devices) which seems
really slow given the spec of the FreeNAS hardware (16gig ram, I5, 6 x Western Digital Black 4TB drives in raidz2-0)

After the upgrade I noticed a critical warning :
Code:
Device: /dev/ada0, 1877 Currently unreadable
Device: /dev/ada0, 10 Offline uncorrectable sectors

The result from a smartctl -a /dev/ada0 is included at the end of this post.

I'm assuming the drive has failed or is about to fail as a resilver. ( zpool status)
Code:
  pool: NAS
 state: ONLINE
status: One or more devices is currently being resilvered. The pool will
continue to function, possibly in a degraded state.
action: Wait for the resilver to complete.
scan: resilver in progress since Wed Feb 28 13:06:30 2018
		364G scanned at 747M/s, 3.03G issued at 6.21M/s, 16.5T total
173M resilvered, 0.02% done, no estimated completion time

Viewing the Volumes it states the status of everything is Healthy, which leaves me wondering what's going on if
one of the drives is reporting uncorrectable sectors .

Can I simply remove the failed drive, with a reduction of overall storage of the pool, or do I have to replace the
drive to restore full functionally and network performance?

smartctl 6.6 2017-11-05 r4594 [FreeBSD 11.1-STABLE amd64] (local build)

Needs to be replaced, removing it may restore some functionality and honestly you should look for some NAS drives. Use the HGST or RED Pro or Gold Drives if you want to keep the 7200RPM speeds.

Not even going to touch the other non recommended parts.
