By default, the SNMP service logs at the INFO level. Unfortunately, at this level the messages can be pretty spammy especially if you are sending your syslog messages to an external monitoring system (i.e. elk, greylog, etc). In my case, I was getting 150 messages every 5 minutes reporting "Connection from UDP" from my snmp monitoring tool.
I was able to fix this by using a rc.conf "tunable". I set the variable "snmpd_flags" to "-LS0-5d" and rebooted. Much better! -- Bud
