SMB Access using \\<HOSTNAME>\<SHARE_NAME> fails on Windows

I am having a strange issue accessing an SMB share.

In Windows I can access the share fine using \\<TRUENAS_IP>\<SHARE_NAME>, but it fails using \\<TRUENAS_HOSTNAME>\<SHARE_NAME>.

I can ping <TRUENAS_HOSTNAME> from Windows.

What am I missing? First post. Still learning... Thank you!

Try putting a dot after the hostname. For example \\truenas.\share

That will use the netbios name. Otherwise it's the domain name and may need the FQDN for example \\truenas.local\share

@Morris FQDN has worked for me. Thank you!

I thought I had tried it before, but apparently, I didn't.

On to the next problem. For some reason I cannot share the SMB on my FTP server. However, I am guessing this might be a Windows issue rather than a True NAS issue.
