Hello,

For these two drives, does anyone have any opinions about their health? Specifically,
for ada1 - the extended smart test failures
for ada2 - random errors in there

Thanks

I don't think there's any question here.

ada1 is failing SMART tests, so it's obviously bad.
ada2 is throwing all sorts of errors, starting with thousands of reallocated sectors.

Replace them both.

Perfect - thanks for the validation. I thought that was the case but am still learning to use the SMART Tests.

Thanks

A SMART test failing is the perfect excuse to get rid of a drive. It's so bad even its manufacturer says it's failed.

Reallocated sectors are also very good indicators of failure. A few (less than 10) may be acceptable - thousands are most certainly not.

Others are a bit more nuanced.
