Sharing Files Across Different Public IPs

So im trying to share A windows share/ pool to a different public IP addreress I've done port forwarding and attempted to use windows files in the map a network drive with the \\(ip)\true which is the share name but rejects the connection at the new address, tried adding a name server and domain so i took off the local domain and added the new one plus the 3 name servers but then updates could not connect so settings have been reverted, I would use next cloud but the person im doing this for wants to upload 100's of GB's of data and wants it online and not do all download on computer, many thanks in advanced
