Hello,

at boot time my home server hangs in the "PEI Intel MRC Execution".
Board: SuperMicro X11SCL-IF

Question 1: USB mouse and USB keyboard do not seem to be powered at this time.
(LED of the mouse is off, LEDs of the keyboard are off).
- Is this normal or when will the USB interfaces be powered?

I have two 8GB memory bars KSM26ES8/8HD, 8GB 1Rx8 1G x 72-bit PC4-266, CL19 288-pin DIMM installed.
The build suggestion suggests KSM26ES8/8ME.
"HD" and "ME" seem to differ only in "Hynix D-Die" and "Micron E-Die".
- Could this difference be the cause why the server seems to hang in MRC Execution?
- How long does the MRC Execution normally take (on the first boot)?

I also tried to populate the server with only one bar in DIMM-B each. Unfortunately this did not change the result.

Any other tips, ideas to solve this problem?

Further tests I executed, all failed:
- Reset of CMOS including previous remove of battery, (See chapter 2.8, page 51 of manual)
- Connection of USB-stick wih bootable image at USB3.0
- Reboot via IPMI (I do have connection and can access the board via IMPI)
- Disconnection of all drives (HDD) before boot
- Population with just one DIMM in slot DIMMB (both modules tested)

I always see"F2"whilst "PEI--Intel MRC Execution" is shown.

Meanwhile I have found two other posts regarding this issue:
STH - Supermicro X11SCH-F hangs a t boot, code 2F

And this one is from SuperMicro itself:
FAQ SuperMicro

"Error code 2F means memory initialization. It is generated thru the BIOS. You may have memory issue. Please check your memory DIMMs and motherboard’s DIMM sockets. "

So conclusion is to to check with other DIMM ECC modules?

O.k., I testet it with another DIMM, DIMM-2133 non-ECC (, which is basically not fully correct, but should be accespted.)
Again same errir report "2F" whilst "PEI--Intel MRC Execution" is shown.

Could it be that the mainboard itself is damaged?

The Kingston RAM you're using may very well be the problem, it's hard to say for certain.

I suggest you follow @Johnnie Black 's suggestion and try something either from Supermicro's Tested Memory List, which you can browse to directly from the motherboard's web page:

...or something listed by memory.net, who are always a reliable source of information:

Good luck!
