i understand that the server should be in an idle state for scrubs and smart tests. what qualifies as idle? i'm running plex and logitech media servers but they probably won't be doing anything when the scrubs and tests are run. i'm also running transmission to seed torrents, so any transmission activity will be mostly disk reads. will that be a problem for the scrubs and smart tests? do i need to disable any of these before running the scrubs and smart tests?

In most cases and when you have nothing mission critical running, it is just fine when your freenas box does the usual stuff while a scrub or smart test is running.
Very probably you will experience that everything runs slower to some degree.

Recently I had an issue because my CPU is just too slow to run scrub on an encrypted 2x6-disk RAIDZ2 pool while a vm with some docker containers was running. The web interfaces from freenas and plex just didn't load anymore and everything else was just very slow.
That's why I'm currently in the process of upgrading to a more decent CPU (and another board, ram,...).
