Restoring the configuration off a failed usb stick boot pool

I'm running a Truenas-12.0-U8.1 setup with a bunch of HDDs/ Data Pools and a single USB stick boot pool which died on me last weekend. (ok, it was a mirrored usb stick boot pool but now BOTH sticks are dead).
I've booted from an install media and as far as I can tell the data is intact - zpool import shows online status of all members.
I've cloned the failed boot stick to a spare SSD and I've plugged it into the host while the install media was running in an attempt to 'Upgrade' in place while keeping the working configuration but I'm getting this error:
GEOM: da2: the primary GPT table is corrupt or invalid
GEOM: da2: using the secondary instead -- recovery strongly advised
Unfortunately my latest backup of the configuration was done in May.
Is there a chance to recover the data from my stick or should I do a fresh install and re-create users/shares/etc?

Thanks in advance.

The config exists on the system dataset. If that was on another pool (hopefully) then it should be available.
Where exactly, I cannot tell you - but it has been posted in this forum.
