Replication Task Failed: dataset does not exist

Hi all,

I'm currently using TrueNAS-SCALE-22.02.0 which replicates nightly to a truenas core backup (TrueNAS-12.0-U8). I've had these snapshot and replication tasks setup and running for a few months now without issue.

2 days ago, the replication job began failing:

Code:
[EFAULT] cannot open 'tank/ix-applications/docker/5d488a8d2076149397a72422422eb7223de979e7228c7f55a887d5fe446f9b7c': dataset does not exist.

Any tips on how to troubleshoot this? I'm not sure which application this dataset maps to, but I'm also slightly confused on why it's trying to replicate a dataset that doesn't exist.

Thanks!

yes and no. I tried a few different steps: reboots on both servers, deleting the snapshot and replication tasks and recreating them, rolling the systems back to 12.0-U8, but the kernel panic happened immediately in each scenario.

I ended up destroying the dataset on the backup server, and then re-running the replication task. Took a solid 17hrs to re-transfer everything, followed by a scrub, and now everything has been back to normal for a few weeks without issue.

So, yes it’s fixed, but only because I went scorched earth on it.
