After years my N40L started showing ageing signs, mostly while playing modern video codecs. First I wanted to go with my own build, but current ML10 price is just to good to pass.

I'll use it as home file server, plex server with max 1-2 transcodings at once (maybe E3 would be enough for future 4k movies?), transmission , sonarr and maybe some light VM.

I choose E3 version because there is not much price difference and some extra power doesn't hurt:
- HP ML10GEN9E3-1225V5 8GB
- 1x Kingston 16GB DDR4 KTH-PL421E/16G (+original 8GB) - according to Kingston's site this should be compatible with HPs memory, has anyone tried it in RL?
- 5x Seagate IronWolf ST4000VN008 4tb in raidz2 - first I went with 'usual' Reds but I got discount on IronWolf. I checked reviews and they are good and disks should run a bit colder. Any other views on this choice? I have some concern about cooling, should regular fans in ML10 be enough for 5 disks?
- Kingston SSD A400 120gb - on N40L I use mirrored USB keys (no problem so far), but after reading forum it seems SSD is preferable option. I am not sure, is 120gb needed? It's only a couple of EURs more than 60gb, but I am not sure if I can use it for anything else than boot disk. Would my system benefit any other way using extra space?

So this is it, all ideas are welcome.
