Remote acces Plex Media Server

Hi,

I have installed Plex Media Server 0.9.11.1.678 on my FreeNas-9.2.1.8-RELEASE-x64 and it works fine. Now i want to share my library outside my local network and this also works. The only thing is that i can access my Plex Media Server just by entering my IP + Port-number without logging in. So no anyone can access my server and change my settings. Is it possible to secure this? I already tried the Disable Remote Security, but even this won't work. I don't see any difference when enable it or disable it.

Please help.

Or just use plex to share your library, and not give direct access to your server.

Thank you for your reply. When i want to share my library, i have to port forward on my router. And by doing that, it is possible to access my Server without any logging in.

problem solved, I got access to the Preferences.xml file and changed the remote from 1 to 0. Now i have to login first before accessing my Library.

Glad that worked for you. You actually did me a favor since it made me look at my own config (on Linux) and realize that I had the same issue. So thanks!
