Hi guys,

I have a big problem.

I reinstalled my cousins computer. I backed up his data to my ZFS NAS.
My cousins disk was low-level-formatted before I reinstalled his system.

After installing his PC again, I restored everything (I thought) to his disks.

My NAS made ZFS snapshots, till last wednesday, because I deleted them and turned off the zfs snapshot function.

Is there any possible way to restore destroyed snapshots? I think that is the only way to get his missing data back.

Hope you can help..

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

Ronald

I'm confused so did your cousin's data from your NAS and only had snapshots and then chose to disable snapshot and remove all snapshots stored?

No, I have all the data. The backup I made from my cousins pc, I deleted after I gave him back the pc. Assuming everything was restored to his pc.
Short: His backup folder on my NAS I deleted after returning the pc

Snapshots cannot be restored except by rolling back the zfs transaction.. not something for the faint at heart. Even then, I'm not sure if snapshots will restore, but I know files will...
