I have a single-disk pool that I created with the FreeNAS GUI. It works. I've connected that disk (through an external enclosure) to a macOS 10.13.6 machine with "OpenZFS on OS X" (aka O3X) 1.9.2 installed.

Should it be able to read the disk?

diskutil sorta sees it:

/dev/disk4 (external, physical):
#: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER
0: GUID_partition_scheme *2.0 TB disk4
1: FreeBSD Swap 2.1 GB disk4s1
2: 12345678-6666-7777-8888-123456789ABC 2.0 TB disk4s2

But ZFS seems not to:

$ sudo zpool import -a
Password:
no pools available to import

Anyone succeed with this?

Never mind, it seems my Firewire enclosure was the problem. When I put the disk directly into my Mac (old cheesgrater) the disk was recognized and seems to work great! These days there are no Macs with internal drive bays, so hopefully there are other disk enclosures that do work... The one that fails for me is:

though I
 didn't try its USB port...
