Process for TrueNAS upgrading UPS service nut to 2.8.0?

The version of Nut used in the UPS service is 2.7.4 in TrueNAS-12.0-U8.1 in a Mini-3.0-X+ .
The Nut team just released 2.8.0 on April 26, 2022 [1, 2].
The release date for 2.7.4 was March 9, 2016 [2]
I'm running a jail with USB passthrough which uses pkg sysutils/nut-devel to talk with my UPS (Tripp Lite AVR900U).
While AVR900U was initially supported by 2.7.4, it seems at some point Tripp Lite upgraded firmware which broke Nut 2.7.4 working. The development branch had a fix.

How do I make a request to include the upgraded Nut, or follow work to that end which may already be going on?
Thank you.

I'm absolutely not clear on why this is a thing you're turning into a request to upgrade the NUT Service on the host.

As you can see on the freshports link you supplied, the version available in both latest and quarterly for FreeBSD12 is 2.7.4_20

It seems to me that means there is no version 2.8 available for FreeBSD at this time, so nothing to be done other than wait for the port to get updated.

Thank you and my apologies for not reading the page I'd linked to. I've been following the Nut project itself and was excited they released something and wasn't thinking about upstream FreeBSD. Now I'll keep an eye on that.
