Hi,
Been waiting for 8.2 to be released to upgrade from 7. I put in a new USB stick and installed 8.2 today. I tried to import my old 7 config, but that failed. When I tried "zpool import" from the shell, I got the following error message:
[root@freenas ~]# zpool import
pool: geeknas
id: 14350640950756855793
state: UNAVAIL
status: The pool is formatted using an incompatible version.
action: The pool cannot be imported. Access the pool on a system running newer
software, or recreate the pool from backup.
see: http://www.sun.com/msg/ZFS-8000-A5
config:

geeknas UNAVAIL newer version
ada0 ONLINE
ada1 ONLINE
ada2 ONLINE

Found it curious that it thinks the old zpool is newer. I can always reboot to the old Freenas 7 but want to take advantage of the new features of 8. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jerry

Don't want to throw spanner in your works here, but can you be more specific on which version of V7 did you use? In 8.2, ZFS ZPool is on version 15, and this sounds like that you are trying to import ZFS ZPool version that is greater that 15 into new config.

Just my 2p worth....

Crap, I'm running 0.7.5 TEST ONLY (revision 9898) and evidently it is running zfs 28!
geeknas:~# zpool upgrade
This system is currently running ZFS pool version 28.

Is there anyway to downgrade?

To answer my own question, looks like there isn't from my google results. Guess I'll have to do a physical copy and recreate the pool and copy over. Fortunately I only have a little over 1 terabyte...
