Ok so the dell H730 raid controller worked in my Cisco server! I did have to disable directpdmapping. I also updated it to the latest firmware. It also HAS to be in RAID mode not HBA/ IT mode. (luckily on these cards it just an option in the card bios.) Its possible that it might work on other LSI cards if they support SED and are in raid mode. in HBA mode everything is grayed out and gives an odd error message about encryption not being supported. I have noticed this with other cards but i also had them in IT mode.
You can then go into PD MGMT tab and the drives will show foreign. you can then press f2 and go to the secure erase option. it will give you some warning and then your good to go. you do have to do one drive at a time.
Now after all this trouble i think i probably could of used one of my other cards and switched it to Raid mode. Might be a good test.
