Upon booting from the installer CD from FreeNAS on the new storage server, the HBA and port multipliers are detected and loaded and all 8 drives over two port multipliers on a SIL3132 based pci-e HBA are detected (all 8 LEDs light up as an indicator).

During the installer cd boot, and installed boot, first pmp detects properly as:
pmp0 at siisch0 bus 0 scbus0 target 15 lun 0
pmp0: <Port Multiplier 37261095 1706> ATA-0 device
pmp0: 300.000MB/s transfers (SATA 2.x, NONE, PIO 8192bytes)
pmp0: 5 fan-out ports

During the installer CD boot the second pmp identifies the same albeit as PMP1 on siisch1.

Once installed, FreeNAS boots, only 4 LEDs show up, and for drives, and BSD only detects one port multiplier giving the new error:

(aprobe1:siisch1:0:15:0): SOFT_RESET: ACB: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
(aprobe1:siisch1:0:15:0): CAM status: CCB request was invalid
(aprobe1:siisch1:0:15:0): Error 22, unretryable error

No clue is going on, or why booting once installed refuses to detect the second PMP in the enclosure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I managed to fix my own problem. Enabling the debug kernel under Settings -> advanced, all 8 drives now show up.

Be very weary of port multipliers. If you search around here you'll find that quite often when 1 disk starts going bad on a port multiplier it will make all the disks on the port multiplier start having problems. Since you may have 5 disks on one multiplier but don't have 5 disks worth of redundancy pool corruption and then lost data results. I'd highly recommend you abandon the port multiplier immediately and get something like an IBM M1015 reflashed to IT mode before your pool suffers a terrible fate.
