[please move to User Authentication] Active Directory GUI setting does not match smb.conf

I am trying to join freenas 9.2.1 to active directory.
my domain is "ad.domain.com"
my workgroup in the gui is set to "ad"

but when i try to join the domain it says failed workgroup is "domain" should be "ad"

for some reason the config is not matching the gui....

any suggestions?

After 4 reboots just trying to start directory service each time not changing any settings it seems to have fixed itself!
