I would guess that your boot device is dying. I say guess because you haven't listed your hardware per the forum rules so all I can do at this point is guess.

Hey Jailer

I am so sorry, i missed that bit when i read the rules, i will remember to put up in future posts, here is the spec of my machine

FreeNAS 11.1U5
MotherBoard - Gigabyte EP45-Extreme 1.0
CPU - Intel Quad Core 2
Ram - 16GB 4x Crucial DDR3
Hard Drives - 6 x 2TB WD Red
Hard Drive Controllers - not sure but i will find out
Network Cards - 1gb onboard
Boot Drive - 16gb USB 3 Data Traveler

hope this helps

Thanks

Mike

It does, your boot device is failing. Save your config, replace the boot drive, re install FreeNAS and upload your saved config. Switching to an SSD for your boot device would be preferable for reliability reasons but not a necessity.

WOW. Dude, that system is so old that it has PATA and Floppy headers on the board.
I am kind of surprised that you can get it to recognize DDR3 memory when the specs say it takes DDR2:

If you ever consider upgrading to something just a touch newer, you might want to review these resources:

PS. When you post text, it is much more readable if you put it in code blocks like this:
Code:

Hey Guys

Thanks for all the information and help with my issue.

I followed Jailers instructions, I saved my configuration, re-installed freeNAS 11.1 u5, imported config, all working fine again now with no errors

i know my board is quite a few years old, but all i use it for is storage and nothing, so it does the job.

but guys, all i can say is thanks again for all the help

Mike :):D:)
