I was an idiot, and rm'd a bunch of files in the CLI, thinking I was in a different directory than I was really in. I realized about a nanosecond after deleting the files that the CLI was pointed at a data directory in OwnCloud, rather than the temp directory as I thought. I was depressed for a moment, as I thought about the time required to restore about 40 GB of video files from backup, and then fiddle with OwnCloud to make it happy again at having files pulled out from under it, then replaced. Then I remembered that I've got hourly snapshots, with a two day retention period (I've also got daily snapshots with a 30 day retention, and monthly snapshots with a one year retention).
I shut down the OwnCloud jail, then rolled back the OwnCloud data dataset and the OwnCloud jail dataset back to the last hourly snapshot. I restarted the OwnCloud jail and everything was back the way it was before I played the idiot.
I'm so happy to have FreeNAS today.
