Hi
I'm going to build mid size NAS. I will house 12 drives (4-6TB) in a ZPool (2x 6 RIADZ2). This NAS will be used only for storage (CIFS, NFS and iSCSI). There will be no other services - just pure storage. I see great deal coming from Supermicro X10SDV-2C-7TP4F. It base on Pentium D1508. This CPU has 2 cores and HT, so 4 threads (base freq 2,2GHz with 2.6GHz as Turbo). This board has also 2x10Gb/s.
I build this storage for several years (let's say 5), so I don't want to waste money in 2 years to swap the board as this NAS is a significant investment.

Is this CPU powerful enough to handle such ZPool with 10Gbit/s throughout without hiccup?

The next in the queue is X10SDV-4C-7TP4F with 4C/8T with same clocks but it's almost 100$ more expensive.

It'll probably do close (7-8) to 10Gb/s if you're not bogging down the CPU with jails and stuff. More than that is hard to say and depends on the NIC and the state of Intel's driver.
