Has anyone tried 10G adapter as pci pass through to freenas?
I tried X520-SR2..Its detected but wont get link..
I have chelsio 320 and 420.The 320 seems to work and no luck with 420.
Just wanted to see what are other options..

I'm confused by your question. There really isn't anything magical about the PCI passthrough. If it's detected by FreeNAS, then the PCI passthrough is working. Is your question about whether or not FreeNAS supports those network cards?

X520-SR2 card is detected..But it does not detect the module/fibre is inserted...
If connect the same card/module on barebone it works.

It sounds like that's a VMware problem, not a FreeNAS one.

PCI passthrough requires several components.

First, the hardware must support it.
Second, the hypervisor must support it.
Third, the VM's OS must support it.
Fourth, the hardware driver for the hardware that is being passed through must support it.

More often than not, the 4th is not met on FreeBSD because in many cases it's not worth the effort because the hardware manufacturer decides that demand for that specific hardware's driver to have support on FreeBSD is just not economically viable.

That's what I thought the driver just does not support it..
Hence was looking for other options.I ended up ordering used Chelsio 320 cards.I tried them before in pass through and they worked..
