Hi,
I launched FreeNas from a USB stick, but do not know to login as root.
I launched as stand allone workstation, there are no connection to LAN,
so I have to reconfigure it using command line, but no password does not match.
A have no access via LAN.

I tried to use all known passwords, but no result.

root - freenas
admin - freenas
root - password
admin - password
root - blank password
admin - blank passwords

Do anyone know how to get access to "root" console ?

Greetings

There is no "default" password for root. The first time you log into the WebGUI it will ask for one. At that point you have 3 options to reset the password:

1. Change the password for root from the WebGUI.
2. Change the password for root by using the local menu options, assuming the local console wasn't disabled (default is enabled)
3. Bootup in single user mode and hack the config file. (this isn't for those that are faint at heart and is not really supported in the forum).

FreeNAS is "network attached storage". It must be accessed from the network and can not be used as a workstation.

What you just said makes no sense whatsoever.

You just open the WebGUI by directing your browser at the server's IP address.

I am left with the distinct feeling that you have no idea what you're doing. If that is the case, please stop and read the (plentiful) documentation that's available. If I'm mistaken, please carry on.

Hi,
Thanks for help, especialy krikboh.
I tried configure freenas without LAN cable connecting.
As soon as I plugged the LAN cable, displaed a configuration menu, and I could configure the rest (WebGUI acces).

I expected that I will be able to get to the configuration without the cable connected.

Wow.

But seriously, you need to read doc.freenas.org as well as the sticky posts here on the forum.
