Note tool

Hi all, is there anybody out there in the www who is using a alternative to Evernote/OneNote or whatever? I have just found OpenNote but I'm absolutley not sure if that would be able to get installed inside FreeNas? But as I understand do I need a PHP webserver.

I'm intrested in all your idea's.

I use md files stored in a git repo. Easy terminal searching and note management with versions and privacy. Though it isn't the most user friendly if you don't enjoy using the terminal.
