Hi,

I am using a nfs datastore with my ESXI 6.5 Host. I would like to use VMware coordinated snapshots but these fail.
I can see my datastore in Freenas and the snapshot config tells me VMware active.
I dont know what else to do.

Latest freenas 11, ESXI 6.5 free home stand alone, no vcenter, VMware tools installed, snapshots do work on the ESXI side. Tested with Win7 and Ubuntu. No device passthrough.

Is the Backup API used and thats why this doesnt work in the free Version?

Thanks Sebastian

FreeNAS build version (System -> Information)?

Please be more explicit by what you mean by "fail". Do you get any errors in /var/log/messages?

Here you go:

FreeNAS-11.0-U2 (e417d8aa5)

Aug 23 10:27:03 TARDIS_NAS /autosnap.py: [tools.autosnap:465] Snapshot of VM Ubuntu Dienste failed

Aug 23 10:27:03 TARDIS_NAS /autosnap.py: [tools.autosnap:465] Snapshot of VM Windows 7 failed

No more information in that file

All Right. That means this will never work with ESXI free since the backup API is used which is Not included in the free ESXI license.

Well this sucks. They used to work in 9.10... This is the only thing that is broken in 11.1 so far for me.

Oh well.
