Hi and thank you for reading my problem.

I have done a fresh install of FreeNAS 9.3 and finally I now make it to the console. I know how to use the IP number to tap into the GUI over the network but I need to setup the network interface IP in order to do that.

At the console I select 1 to configure network interface and the next thing I get is

"Select an interface (q to quit):"

That is all ... I don't get any interface listed to select.

My Network Interface Card is an onboard Intel GbE LAN ... on a GA-H170-D3H Motherboard.

I already considered that maybe it is already setup DHCP so I connected to the network and boot up and used NMap to try discover a new host within the subnet, but alas none is shown.

Not sure what to do now other than maybe installing a different NIC and reinstalling FreeNAS 9.3

What should I do now?

Cheers

By default a FreeNAS install will try to grab an address via DHCP and display it on the console.

If you didn't see it and you can't configure it, it sounds like FreeNAS doesn't recognize your NIC. I'd check the BIOS to see if it's disabled.

If the NIC is bad, you might want to pick up an Intel Pro/1000 CT. Cost ~$30 USD.
