VMware ESXi 6.5 host server:
  • Motherboard make and model: ProLiant ML310e Gen8 v2
  • CPU make and model: 2 CPUs x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1240 v3 @ 3.40GHz
  • RAM quantity: 32 GB
  • Storage Quantity: CAPACITY: 4.36 TB
  • Hard disk controllers: HP Smart Array P420
  • Network cards: 4x HP (Intel NIC)
TrueNAS Core VM:
  • CPU Cores: 2
  • RAM quantity: 16GB
  • Hard disk 1: 16 GB
  • Hard disk 2: 500 GB
Nextcloud Jail Version: 24.0.4
Operating System and Version: FreeBSD 13.1-RELEASE-p1
Nginx Version: 1.22.0
PHP Version: 8.0.22

The issue you are facing:

The Nextcloud plugin for TrueNAS Core reports 188.99 GB used while TrueNAS reports 397.25 GB used.
Both TrueNAS and Nextcloud report the correct available space of 83.31 GB

Is this the first time you've seen this error?: Yes

Steps to replicate it:

1. Store stuff (about 60gb of data) in Nextcloud
2. Notice that TrueNAS is complaining that more than 80% of space is used while Nextcloud is reporting 56%

Feel free to ask for any more information and I will do my best to provide.

A few weeks ago on 2022-09-04 when I created the Nextcloud pool it looked like this:

This is what it looks like now on 2022-09-24:

The whole time TrueNAS has reported that Nextcloud has 500 GB available to it.

I finally managed to fix it. Turns out the snapshots I was making of the jail took up over 300 GB. It was set to automatically make them at midnight every day and keep them for a month but it still managed to make 541 snapshots. I need to learn how to make snapshots correctly.
